Learn to Type with Confidence is a practical, beginner-friendly keyboarding course that helps children develop correct typing habits through guided practice, games, challenges and real-life activities. Learners begin by exploring the keyboard, identifying important keys and learning the correct sitting position. They then practise the home row, top row and bottom row while developing muscle memory and learning which finger should press each key. The course combines short demonstrations, individual exercises, typing games, team competitions, creative writing missions and personal-best challenges. Accuracy is prioritised before speed so learners develop reliable skills rather than rushed, incorrect habits. Learners will practise using the Spacebar, Enter, Backspace, Shift, Caps Lock, number keys and common punctuation. They will also type names, messages, school assignments, sentences and short stories. Typing activities may include structured exercises and supervised games such as TypingClub, ZType, Nitro Type, Keybr and other instructor-approved tools. External games support the lessons but do not replace the course curriculum. By the end of the course, learners should be able to: • Position their hands correctly on the keyboard. • Find the F and J guide keys without looking down. • Use the correct fingers for the home, top and bottom rows. • Type short words and sentences with improved accuracy. • Use capital letters, numbers and common punctuation. • Complete simple school and everyday typing tasks. • Improve their typing speed compared with their starting result. • Participate positively in individual and team typing challenges. The course is designed for a four-week cohort with three guided class sessions per week, short home practice and a final Keyboard Heroes typing challenge.
